Tu me manque beaucoup

Have you ever wondered that soneone came to your life, touched your soul, made you realize what's worth in you.  That person made you see that you can  do a lot more than what you can achieve now.  That person helped you take the first frightening step, helped you feel alright.  That person showed you which way you could take.   The one making you feel so blessed. Far from your eyes, but close to your heart.

The moment has gone, but the mark stays...forever

After more than six months

Six months have passed since the first day I got into my present office.  I start to get the hang of my job.  I don't suffer from being alienated by the world of the academics any longer.  I get used to seeing things from bigger perspectives.  I feel stronger.  Though sometimes I still feel worried about my friends in my former place, but I can manage my feelings better.  Much much better.  I relate with more people from different sections.  Not easy, though.. but not hard either.  I expand my wings.
Since the very beginning I always tell myself that there must be a light in all this darkness I feel.  God has His own agenda towards me.  I know it now.
Alhamdulillah.
I am aware that this is not the happy ending of the story.  The journey still goes on. But I have more faith in me now.
Allah is ALWAYS kind.

And the place will never be the same again

About eight months ago, when we both were assessed for a job promotion, I wondered.  What if you were the chosen one? What if it was me? Would things be the same?
Going through hard times together, I learned what it is like to work with all males.  Been knowing for quite some time that you might leave anytime soner or later.  Still, when the time really comes, I am not ready.
I hate the words 'if only...'  I hate regretting things.  But it's really hard to not think about those words right now.
Some thoughts that can ease my mind now are:
That I didn't know what would happen in the future, and that you would be much happier outside there.
I wish u success, I truly do.

My new orange tab

I am such an impulsive buyer when it comes to gadgets.  I knew that.  That's why i always warn myself each time i start to get lured by the new version of gadgets.  Lately, i've been refraining myself from buying the latest version of android smartphone.  I kept telling myself that my present android phone is still smart enough and buying the new (and of course expensive) one is just a waste of money.  Once, i almost gave up.  It was when my hb couldn't reach the normal range eventhough i already went through iron transfusion and ate more.  I was pissed after reading the lab result and directly went to the mall (anak mall bgt gw ya).
On the other side of the story.  Starting from the release of a new type of gadget called tablet, i have never been interested in buying one.  For me, i'd rather buy high spec laptop or smartphone than a tablet.  Until one day...
Things got dusgusting at the office and i felt i need to distract myself from all negative feelings and thoughts caused by things happened at the office.  Reading is a good escape.  I don't need to disturb anybody to listen to me venting my emotions.  Anyway i think some stuff cannot be shared.  Then i started to take my unfinished novels.  Until then.... i realized i have many ejournals and ebooks i haven't read.  Actually i can read them in my android phone...but it's too small.  That was exactly the time when i thought buying a tablet is a good option.
First i only wanted to browse.  I asked my brother to drive me to a gadget outlet that night (i got the idea in the afternoon).  But he said, "Halaaaah beli aja langsung"
We went there,.. and yes...i bought it...heheee.
And right...this new tablet is a really-really nice distractor.  I can do loads with it.  Well...it's an impulsive buying, but useful.  Don't you think? :-)

Believe even when no one believes in you

I am capable
Of loving regatdless of whether i am loved in return,
Of giving even when i have nothing,
Of working happily even in the midst of difficulties,
Of holding out my hand even when utterly alone and abandoned,
Of drying my tears even while i weep,
Of believing even when no one believes in me.

... And vampires won't like me

For the past two and a half months i've been changing my eatling habit.  I didn't use to have breakfast early in the morning before.  It was really hard for me to eat at 6, even at 7... let alone earlier than that.  I could only bear a cup of coffee to 'wake me up'.  I could bear brunch but not breakfast.  Consequently, i usually had late lunch since i was still full at noon.  Apparently,  that kind of eating habit worsened my blood status.  I was identified of having severe anemia with severe low ferritin.  My hb was 6.3 only, while normal woman should have at least 11.7.  A friend said, "Vampires would not like to haunt you,  then... someone with little and thin blood liquid".  Heheee...
My ferritin was lower than 2 when normal people should have 15-150.  Ferritin is protein/enzyme containing iron stored in human bones.   It functions mainly to catalyze food supply to blood in order for us to get energy.  People with low ferritin has high risk of osteoporosis and bones easily cracked.  People like me would easily get fainted and dizzy,  not to mention easily get tired...
Funnily, i never got fainted.  I did get tired after office hours, but i thought it was just normal.  It was just usual tiredness, not fatigue-like.  The doctor said my body already adapted with the condition, and i was likely to lead a happy life,  that was why i appeared fine.  However, i couldn't stay with that kind of health condition coz it would risk my health in the long run, not to mention that i will have to go through surgery in the near future.
So, there goes the change of my eating habit.  Now, i must have breakfast (big one if possible).  And it must include eggs, with the ratio 3:1 for albumin over egg yolk.  I must drink juice, milk with high calcium.  I surely have to eat a lot.  Eat meat a lot (i like this one ).  And wait...that's not enough.  I must be infused with iron liquid oncr every 2-3 weeks.
And here i am now...chubby...doesn't matter.  My hb is already 10.2, my ferritin is already 20...not bad,  right?  I still need to get the iron transfusion this afternoon.  "One more," said the doctor.  Well, it's been the second time she said 'one more'.

Just now, i had my breakfast... rice with fried tofu and chicken soup, plus two sets of cheese sandwich.  Heheee....

I am Garfield

... Garfield who never looks forward to Monday.  It's me now.  I wasn't before.

Though i never put any days as special day to look forward to or to avoid, I saw each day as new day that could always bring surprises and laughter.  The guys always had their way to make the day bright.  Especially since we got a new member few months ago.  I felt happier.  Not only because finally i had a female partner but also because we had that chemistry between each other.  And starting the day we rearranged the office layout, I felt it completed all the comfort i had in the office.

Having a new boss from another dept didn't affect much to the team.  The disappointment didn't crack me.  Maybe because I had experienced worse situation there.  Let alone i started to get busy heading the events as well as doing routine work.  The place has become my home.  Promotion...rotation...they didn't matter to me anymore.

As i got busy with all the loads and enjoyed the hustle and bustle with the whole gang, I started to think of my personal short-term and long-term goal.  I was confirmed that i would go back to school soon and choose applied linguistics.  Though i knew i would never like language, but being in that department was enough to give me motivation to change direction to linguistics instead of continuing to psychology.  Never came to my mind i would leave the department anytime soon.  I made up my mind, if i chose to stay in this institution then it would be in the department, no place else.  I guess being with them was one of the reasons why i could still put up with the situation.  I felt i was surrounded by brothers and sister.

But life is unpredictable...
And here i am now.  In a new place called office.  Bigger (even much bigger) responsibilities, a superior, subordinate, and no co-worker.  I know i would make an early conclusion if i say this new place would not make me feel comfortable, but honestly that's exactly what i feel now.  And Monday starts to be the day i dislike, coz i HAVE to go to the office.

Just like tonight.  Thinking about tomorrow just makes me want to have longer weekend.  Exactly like Garfield, isn't it?

New Office: cold and quiet

It's been a week since i moved to my new office.  In this institution, getting promoted doesn't always mean getting better facilities... *yaiks.  People say my former office is much more spacious and more comfortable.  Yeah, surely.  They don't even need to say that to make me realize how hard it is to leave my former office.  It's not merely about the physical condition.  It's everything in it, the work, the people the atmosphere...even the restroom...hahahaaaaa.  But life goes on.  I decided to take this assignment.  It's my choice.  I have stopped thinking about who is responsible for dragging me into this new place.  I really don't think it's necessary (anymore).

Since i haven't got my computer yet, i bring my notebook each time i go to office.  I don't really like it actually, due to the ribetness of the transportation (I must change public transportation several times).  But i don't want to end up doing nothing in the office and just having chats with people here and there.

The room is really cold.  Cold enough to make me sick.  I have asked the technician to do something about it.  Until yesterday, no technician came... *sigh.  It seems the only thing that goes fast in this building is gossip.

Today i was supposed to have road show to Bandung with the mommies and BODs.  But yesterday's cold has prevented me from going out of home.  I really wasn't feeling well.

Seems that i don't have good comments for this new office huh?... Well, indeed this is not the place i've been looking forward to.  But i think i have to learn to get myself comfortable with this place.  Coz i don't want to suffer each and every single work day i have there.

At the moment, It's hard not to be bitter, not to have grudges.  But i don't want to spend my work days ahead with bitterness and grudges.  My soul deserves good things, and i believe i am a lot stronger than this uncomfortable situation.  Each day in the new office, my mind is overwhelmed by so many things.  I don't feel like talking to anybody.  I think silence is all i need.  It gives me peace.

The dream...will it come true?

A long time ago during my staying in Bogor, my friends and i sometimes shared our dreams about our future life or career.  I dreamed that one day i would want to have my own small school with the design of my choice,  with the color of mt taste,  with my K-primary school students coming and greeting me everyday.
What a dream... hahaaaa... I said it anyway.  And my friends at that time said... "We pray for you." Even one of them,  who was my junior,  said "Take me with you,  ya mbak "
Time went by.  Sometimes i remember it,  but life is a reality.  Even too real that i sometimes feel afraid of keeping the dream alive.
I almost forgot it.  Really.
Until recently.  I saw the plan before me.  "It's like the one in my mind,  you know, " that's what i said.
You must've thought i was joking.  Though later you knew i wasn't.
I didn't think before you would finally say it.
Honestly,  i am tempted.  And i guess you know i am. We know exactly that we might court catastrophe if we do... And i'm not sure if i should risk it now.
But i am still tempted... i still am...

RISK IT

RISK IT

To love is to risk not being loved in return.
To live is to risk dying.
To hope is to risk despair.
To try is to risk failure.

The person who risks nothing, does nothing,
has nothing, and is nothing.

They may avoid suffering and sorrow.
But they simply cannot learn, feel, change, grow, love, and live.

Risk must be taken because
the greatest hazard in life is to risk nothing.
Only a person who risks is free.

*Coincidentally, i found this poem today while i was rearranging my office room.  I dedicate this poem to abang who just filed his letter of resignation last week.  Good luck :')

Tears

A lot of tears shed for the past year.

Tears of sadness.

Tears of disappointment.

Tears of anger.

Tears of goodbye...

It's all because you put your heart  for what you do... and people working with you.

Life goes on,  no matter what.

And you might shed tears again...

At least it proves that you are alive... truly alive...

Unusually Tuesday...

First,  don't judge the grammar... Udah deee, ini nulis di blog biarin gw suka-suka,  owait?

Okay,  knapa hari ini unusual? cekidot...

First, (eh udah tadi ya?)... okay,

One,  seharian ini gw nyanyi2 terus... latihan karaoke bo!  Oh itu biasa ya?  Eh, tapi jadi ga biasa karena kubernyanyi lagunya Siti Nurhaliza (secara biasanya boyband cyiinnn).  Judulnya 'bukan cinta biasa' pula.  Bener dong ga biasa?

Dua,  entah lagi kesambet apa koq ya tiba2 dua rekan di kantor pagi2 minta gw bercerita soal tipe2 kepribadian org.  Jadilah gw mberi kuliah dhuha psikologi.  Dan anehnya mreka menyimak tuh...  (spanjang yg gw amati sih).

Tiga,  sepertinya sekitar mulai gimana gitu menjelang pemanggilan ku dan teman ke meja hijau... eh BOD deng.  Walah... dan eh taunya tadi sore bos tilpun, bilang batal.  "There's a change of plan " demikian kata bliau.  Reaksi gw n teman?  "Horeeeeee.... kita bs karaoke! " ... see? Unusual toh?

Empat,  meskipun bukan pilihan yg favorable,  hari ini kumenemukan bahwa bergaul dgn org frustrasi yg sadar kalo dia frustrasi masih lebih baik ketimbang bergaul dgn orang frustrasi tapi merasa dirinya baik-baik saja.  Bahkan merasa lebih bijak.... ehm,  oke deh.  Kenapa kuberkata demikian?

" "I should have... " Dia tidak menyadari bahwa org yg 'berkata-kata' padanya itu bukannya tanpa agenda.  Yah,  mgkn karena dia percaya kalo org itu melakukannya krn peduli,  atau bahkan cinta.  Well,  aku punya satu pertanyaan,  "Apakah seseorang bs dikatakan peduli atau bahkan mencintai kalo dia sering mengulang-ulang menyebut hal yg membuatmu merasa kamu bukanlah org yg baik?"....hmmm iya sih mencintai, mksdnya mencintai dirinya sendiri bkn mencintai kamu. :p

Aduh,  berat ya... hmmm tapi pengen rasanya bisa ngmng ini, jika kesempatan dan momennya pas.

Wis lah... cukup hal2 tak biasa edisi hari ini.

Dodol is what dodol does

I don't know why this week i have to deal with dodol circumstances done by dodol and (i thought)  not dodol people.  Starting Monday until (even) today (Saturday).  Gosh!  And they thought they are victims of the situstions.

They said things and then forgot and in critical situation,  either panicky or defensive... One even didnt know what she said a.k.a gajebo. They just don't see anything wrong with them.

"The grass is green at my yard,  neighbors need glasses to have clearer view of my home,"... yeah,  rite.

Well... they did say sorry...( some didn't).

And to make it dramatic,  one is a monster with (of course)  scary (and sometimes scared) face.  This one always has presumption I will blame him for things when at the same time actually he is the one being prejudice with me and his surroundings. Sick...

Honestly,  i never signed up for this,  to deal with dodol things a full whole week.

Can't believe this... and these people?  Oh God...

I feel like singing: "...in the heeeeaaat ooof summer sunshine i killed youuuuu. And nobody needs to knooow."

To be ikhlash is completely hard

I just learned how someone can really be so annoying that whether i take action or just keep silent the effect will b the same.  Even though i didn't do anything to her,  not a thing.  The more i try to fix things, the worse the effect i receive.

Honestly, i feel relieved starting she stopped calling me at nights to vent all she had in her heart and head, starting the day she managed her account setting so i can't see her account activities.  Well,  that sounds rude.  I know.  That's why i have been keeping it in my head all this time.  But now i really feel like saying it out loud.

I thought being away from her is enough to make my life (and her life, maybe) peaceful. I thought (when I was her friend)  i was annoyed because i was involved in her problems. She made me involved in her problems.  I thought by deciding to let her deal with her own problems i would not invite troubles.

I still greet her.  I still treat her the way i deal with other people.  No matter how she has been treating me.

I just never thought that after being distant for long she still involves me.  She thinks everything in this world is about her, including things i do.  And she can easily interpret things i do the way she likes and talk about it behind my back.

Somehow i know that all this time she is still nosy about what i'm going through. But i don't give a damn.  If she knows my problems,  my failures,  my worries,  so what? I can still bear it since i don't want to get carried away (anymore) by whatever she does.

However....

I can't do that this time.  She sells my name to people. Telling her interpretation that i have done her wrong.  And she said it behind my back.

The worse comes when i try to fix things.

It seems that i just have to swallow this silently.

Now,  i do pray that i can make her not exist to me, and i do pray Allah keep her away from me.  So my life can be peaceful

Monday's nightmare...for you this time

The day finally came. It is indeed unavoidable anymore. I myself cannot stand the situation any longer.  The road to get there was quite serpentine until my friend made it straight to the heart of the problem.  It was harsh.  Unfortunately we didn't have any other ways to do that to make them both understand the gravity of the problem.  She asked for a thinking time.  Sure... especially since she looked completely surprised with what we said.  She really didn't anticipate that.  Subtly, I also saw a sense of denial coming from this brilliant person.  She still couldn't get it? after all the blunt statements? quite impossible for a person of her caliber.  The term 'denial' suits better, i guess.  But whatever... Professionally i feel relieved that i have split things out.  Though i regret that it should be done in such blunt statements.  As a woman, i know this must be really huge to be the target of such blunt statements.  But well... the truth indeed hurts, my dear...let alone since you don't have that discourse and strategic competences to understand the situation.  Honestly i fear of losing the three musketeers more than having myself being hated by this smart person (and her friends).

Let tomorrow take care of its own troubles. I'm relieved i did what i had to do today, in that very meeting.

I should've known...

It seems that what my friend said that i never learn my lesson is true. Particularly with certain people. It happened again today. Again, i fell into the same mistake. I let this person ruined my day. The thing i hate the most is bcoz i am the one responsible for the bitter result. I was the one to open the chance to happen. "I should've known!"....
Uuuuurgh....i hate it. Several times i promise myself to be aware. Still, i got carried away with the idea different topic, different situation, time passed by, people change. I WAS WRONG...Those ideas are just not applicable to these kinds of human being.
I feel like banging my head on the wall. Finding myself doing the same foolishness is almost unforgivable to me. I guess i really need self hypnosis at the moment.

I went to Europe (the sequel)

In Paris, we stayed in two different hotels: Mercure resort and Residhome apparthotel. Both are located outside Paris and both hotels are nice, much different from the hotels we had previously, especially in Italy.  Two nights in Paris was actually not enough. But we had no choice, we had to move.
Bruxelles (Brussels) is the next city after Paris. It took us about 3.5 hours to get there. Even though Bruxelles is a big city in Belgium, there was not much to see there. We were there for less than 3 hours. Buying chocolates was my main purpose in Bruxelles. Apparently i also got nice bag there. Next, we left Belgium for Amsterdam.
We arrived in Amsterdam almost 9. The wind was cold. It was truly autumn weather. We stayed in Crowne Plaza, a hotel near Schipol airport. This hotel was the best. We had a city tour. We went along the canals. The ride was not as nice as the one we had in Seine river, for sure. Seine is much larger river  and the view around was much nicer.
We went to a photo studio where we posed wearing Dutch clothing. I looked really funny in Dutch dress. We also visited Gassan diamond factory. Gassan is diamond brand used by branded labels like Chopard, Tissot, Tag Heuer, Guess, etc. We were explained the different kinds and qualities of diamonds. Quite many places to visit, right? Sure, coz at the end of the day i felt really exhausted. However, we still made time to browse around the red-light district. Wow...those women really showed what they got :D though it was still during the day. Actually some friends invited me to see the city at night, but i was too exhausted. I prefer enjoying the hotel room instead, as i prepared my stuff for the next day's departure to Dubai.
I wish i could stay longer in Europe. And i hope i still have loads of chance to visit Europe next years...and the next years...and the next years...

I (finally) went to Europe

After being delayed one year from the original plan, my friend and I decided to take the west Europe tour without London this late summer. We just had to leave London behind at the moment, otherwise we couldnt go there this year. And I myself were tired of delaying this plan again and again.
We were supposed to start in Rome, but the schedule was changed due to flight availability. We started in Venice then to Rome. Just like all the tourists visiting Venice, we took gondola through the canals. It was nice. The weather was nice too. A nice afternoon to enjoy the gondola ride. The next day we went to Rome. First in Rome, we went into Saint Peter Basilica church in Vatican. It was amazing. All the details and area were historical. Actually, Rome is like museum in a form of a city. I really hate I couldnt spend much time there since we had to catch up visiting Pisa tower in the afternoon. We couldnt even get inside Coloseum. Urrgh... Only taking photos from distance.
The next day, we went to Milan before going to Switzerland.
In Switzerland, i saw and touched the snow for the first time. This country has a very beautiful scenery with all the unique houses and buildings, just like in children stories and old movies. So peaceful and free from pollution. We spent two nights there before heading for Paris.
In Paris, we had a city tour and (of course) shopping. Unfortunately, visiting Louvre is not included in the agenda. We could only see the outside part of the museum. As we took the city tour, I remember some parts of Dan Brown's novel, Da Vinci Code. After lunch we were given time to go shopping. It's hard to believe to see many people (mostly Asian) queuing in Louis Vuiton gallery. What for? Of course to buy those expensive LV bags. They lined up there as if they were about to get free meals :) Before evening we made time to go through Seine River to view the city from the boat. Eiffel tower is amazing at night, with all the lights and clear sky as background.
(to be continued)

For women only

"Sometimes our pain is caused by our own mistakes."

I have been reducing red meat consumption for the past few months. I even avoid fastfood restaurants. I push myself to eat more fish, fruit, and veggie. I sometimes go to the gym. I do relaxation. I also take some food supplement regularly. In short, I try to live a healthier lifestyle. It really works, though indeed I have to spend more and keep telling myself that I do need this. Well, health is expensive as you age, but getting sick will cost you more. Not included the physical and emotional sufferings.
As a result of my effort, I don't have to experience that monthly stomach pain. The out-of-the-blue bleeding whatsoever. I even heal symptoms of flu my own through self hypnosis.

But it all has gone starting lebaran holiday few weeks ago. I prefer angry birds to self relaxation before sleep. Blame it to the android. And it's really hard to resist those delicious but full-of-fat-and-cholesterol food. Suddenly I really want to eat all the food I'd better avoid including instant noodles. I started eating what I wanted, not what I needed.

And here I am now with this unfinished flu and cough. I'm having my period. A week earlier than the usual schedule, with the agony of severe stomach pain for the past two days. Yesterday was the worst. Today is the first day of my period without pain. But of course it's bleeding alot. Going back and forth to bathroom every two hours.
This is all my mistake. I really should get back to my healthy lifestyle now. I really should.
